2005

WOW! Thirty years of quality publications in the realm of public legal education. Having been a subscriber and contributor to LawNow for almost 20-years, it has been a pleasure to observe the magazine continually evolve to meet the demands of the legal community by not only expanding its scope of delivery but also ensuring that local, national and international legal issues are addressed in a reader friendly format. LawNow should be available to students and faculty at any college or university across this fair country! - John Winterdyk
(John Winterdyk, PhD is a professor with the Department of Justice Studies at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta and an adjunct professor at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick.)

Law was, for centuries, explained in complex jargon not only to maintain its mystique and gravitas, but also to ensure that only a specialized official citizenry was able to profit from its mysteries and influence.  An increasing aspect of the unique legitimacy and vigour of the law of Canada, however, has been the plainer translation of its principles to not only modern times but to all people.  Law Now has for three decades given voice to those who remember that the Rule of Law comes from fulfilling the Honour of Law, which in turn exists if the Law is known to deserve its Honour.

Those voices imparted much knowledge to all.  As one who had the privilege of contributing to Law Now for some years, I salute the magazine and rejoice in its long success.  Kudos in particular to its vigourous, thoughtful, diligent, selfless and energetic staff! - Jack Watson
(The Honourable Mr. Justice Jack Watson was appointed a judge of the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench in Edmonton in 2000.)
